On Friday evening, the Jackson Purchase Friends of Bluegrass (JPFOB) organization held their monthly bluegrass concert at the KY Opry in Draffenville. Between bands, a presentation of a mandolin was made as a surprise to an upcoming mandolin student of Murray music instructor, Conny Ottway. The JPFOB have a program where instruments that are no longer in use may be donated to a young student who will further the bluegrass tradition. In the past, there have been guitars, fiddles, banjos and mandolins passed on to young students in this area. First grader, Jon Waggoner, son of Seth and Kimberly Waggoner of Murray, received this mandolin. Making the presentation are Tony Williams, president of the JPFOB, and Conny Ottway.
